Moving DEI from Intention to Impact
Director · Story Editor · Producer
The Project
Moving DEI from Intention to Impact is a LinkedIn Learning course with author and inclusion strategist Ruchika T. Malhotra focused on moving beyond well-meaning intentions toward more meaningful, measurable inclusion practices. Working with Ruchika and producer Lauren Habib, I helped shape the course from pre-production through story structure, blending direct instruction with personal stories, interview-driven moments, and location filming around Seattle to create a more human and engaging learning experience.
The Approach
Rather than relying solely on direct-to-camera instruction, I wanted the course to feel more personal and experiential. I pitched weaving Ruchika’s own stories throughout the course through informal interviews, candid conversations over coffee, and location filming around Seattle, creating space for her lived experience and personality to sit alongside the core teaching. The goal was to give learners a stronger connection to both the material and the person behind it.

Shaping the Story
The course needed a clear narrative progression, not just a collection of lessons. I worked with Ruchika and producer Lauren Habib to shape the material into an arc that moved from examining the limits of good intentions, through discomfort and self-awareness, toward practical ways to create more meaningful inclusion. My role in the story edit was to help connect those ideas, examples, and personal experiences so each chapter built naturally on the one before it.
